Blue Smoke Quartz is a brand-new find from the Santander province in Colombia and is considered a varietal of Lemurian. High-quality Blue Smoke Quartz is usually water clear, and many have some Lemurian bar codes on the surface or penetrator crystals. The bluish cloudy opalescence within the point is caused by micro inclusions, creating the pale blue, shadowy effect. There are tiny flakes on and in this Quartz that, although resembling mica, are the lithium mineral, Cookeite. The Cookeite Lamellae are often embedded in the faces of the Quartz crystal, scattered through the matrix, or included inside the Quartz. This means that these points are actual Lithium Quartz.
